EURO TOUR 2002 - COMMENTS

Blowing our Horn:
the following are exerpts from reviews and e-mails received after
our Euro tour gigs in September and October

Daevid Allen and his nutty professors have totally
blown to pieces my
deepest musical convictions (which had already been
shocked by a series of concerts outside measurement). Strange, I
had
been attracted by this exceptional faculty believing that I would be
witness to a masterful exchange of GONG and SOFT MACHINE, sprinkled
by a cheerful
psychedelic space rock, as Daevid Allen is so capable of. What a
happy
misappraisal, when suddenly all my prejudices disappeared, putting
in
question my knowledge of the fusion of styles and entirely
submerging me
like an atheistic cathechist into a sonic morphogenesis.

review and some of the best live photos I have seen of us)

My Gawd
These people sound make Sex Pistols sound like choir boys!" which
was
only partly true as Josh, Michael and the very young drummer Warren
Huegel revealed a musicianship far superior to any class of 1976
muso.
Among several other things Daevid also has a unique talent for
spotting talented musicians. Who else can find a complete unknown
replacement drummer with such a technical surplus and dedication?
Warren has to be heard to be believed. Josh Pollack is a lefthand
guitarist who have simply turned the guitar the other way around
just
like Hendrix - complete with upside down strings . Despite being a
wildman on stage he has a unique control over his instrument & he
uses
feedback noise with a fantasy that easily rivals most people that I
can think of.

Saw the band last night in southampton. Bloody
marvellous!

Hi
I just want to say that I saw University of Errors at the Electric
Prunes gig in Glasgow and was totally knocked out .

the gig at the Garage was FUCKING BRILLIANT.I think
the Errors are the best band Daevids had since the seventies.Full on
energy at it's best.

No doubt Mr Allen is a man of many parts but no New
Age tweeness last
night, this was loud'n'filthy avant-garde psychedelic punk with the
band
playing as if possessed. Josh Pollock is simply extraordinary,
wrenching
wild sheets of noise from his guitar. ... I struggle to give points
of reference but if you can imagine Camembert-era Gong crossed with
the MC5 and the Bonzo Dog band (a stretch I know) you're in the
general area.

What can I say !!!! What an amazing band they
are......Josh Pollock...a man at war with his guitar...Daevid Allen,
...a man so far ahead of his
time that the world at large hasn't yet caught up with even his
earliest output,....let alone this band!!! From 'Money doesn't make
it, to a Spine tingling version of O Caroline ( I think) by Robert
Wyatt, which featured some of the most delicate, melodic Gliss work
I've ever heard him do, The Uof E set the place alight. Daevid
looked completely at home with this band.

Some of the comments I overheard........'OUTRAGEOUS'
'LIKE JULIAN COPE ON ACID' ....'TIN MACHINE WITH TALENT' I didnt
Stay for the Electric Prunes, but I don't know how they could
match the Uof E for energy. Just a brilliant gig of some completely
original music....this Faculty will definately have many new
Undergraduates! They went down a storm!

Hi jonny, just mailing to say that the UofE gig at
Glastonbury Assembly Rooms was sensational! It was one of the very
best gigs I've ever seen, and I've seen some dam fine ones over the
last 30 years.
message to all humans - what ever you do GET TO A
UNIVERSITY OF ERRORS GIG BEFORE THE CURRENT TOUR ENDS!!! or wait
another half decade or so before the chance to experience raw
musical excitement this powerful comes round again. man, it was so
hot! strong and streamin' mate, or what!?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thankyou boys, love
kifkif (original Here & Now/Planet Gong drummer)

- was at Glasgow on Saturday and it was amazing.
Loved the mix of soft machine numbers and great sonic guitar band
sound. The whole crowd were bouncing. My friend who i took along had
never heard of them before and she was stunned.
Well what can i say INCREDULOUS wowwww.They
were amazing take away Daevid and the band were raw acidic and
totally out there in the real sense.Josh is amazing having dealt
with(from a sound guys angle) loads of overly loud guitarists he has
sublime control over the full
frequency range "shredding" the airwaves with wild feedback surfing
on those soundlevels that you feel physically as well as sonically

great gig at the garage, had seen many gong/alien
gigs b4, but loved
'StoneInnocFrank' it fits so well, and yet it had whiskers b4 I herd
the
UoE play it... Daevid seemed like he was in his element.

Also want to let you know that the two gigs I saw
must be VERY close to
being the best I`ve been to in over 30 years of seeing live
music.Honest!!!

My boyfriend, Scott, he was exposed to Gong when he
was a kid and he
has grown up liking Gong and Mr Bungle. He
recently saw something about 'pot head pixies' in a leaflet in a
place
near us. He then went to see you at the 'marrs bar' with
his friends to see University Of Errors and apparrently met you. He
was
happy for days after and would not stop talking about
it.

"I laughed all the way home......I never do
that?"
