Daevid Allen's University Of Errors: Money Doesn't Make It

AMG EXPERT REVIEW: Contemporary space-rock band Mushroom jammed with former Soft Machine and Gong founder Allen over one impromptu weekend in San Francisco in 1998, and this is the result: appropriately off-the-wall, exciting, but best of all, thoroughly modern. Although Allen goeson some of his characteristically cosmic lyrical rants (and there are times when it sounds like one never-ending space jam), the project hangs together nicely. In particular, the more directed tracks -- the darkly melodic "Involve Me," the Eastern-dosed "Mullumbimby Mother," and a reprise of the title track, "Burn Your Money" -- are mighty impressive in scope and execution.
