BRIEF BIO

A hop, skip, and a too-much-talked-about 14.4 kbps correspondence led to Analogue's long distance love affair/runaround with Sonic Bubblegum Records. The "Average Luck Charm" single was released in 1995 featuring a Carolinian take on the Louisville sound and a subdued reverence for Ian Curtis and the boys. Quickly, a fourth member, Jennifer Greer, was added to the existing trio of Matthew J. Westlake, David Cantwell, and Christopher Karlof to expound on the sound. The letter "D" became the note, and the band stacked the deck and upped the ante, creating the album "AAD" /"AAA" (cd/lp) in 1996. Soon thereafter, the Analogue family again grew in number as a fifth able body was invited to help carry the workload.
Analogue journeyed to Brooklyn in the winter of 1997 to record "Rock Proper" at the Rare Book Room with Nicolas Vernhes. Consisting of one instrumental and five songs without vocals, this album was the band's best attempt, at the time, to present a 'proper rock' album, whatever that may be. Now, three years later, the record will be released by Rubric Records and Op Pop Pop in 2000 - a year that's perhaps better suited to embrace the album's majesty than its pre-millenium predecessors were.
In 1999, brandishing the moniker Analogue II, the remade/remodeled ensemble settled in at all three points of the Research Triangle in North Carolina to continue their work in the p(rog/ost)-rock-ROCK aesthetic. Traversing the path of Ronnie Van Zandt, Duane Allman, and the other Southern Rock heroes of lore, Analogue II continues to fight the good fight, flying the flag of portentous composition.
